Check the product key

If the error is appearing while activating the Office setup then check the product key. If you are using an invalid or expired key for activating your product then you will get an error message on your screen. If you are installing the setup online then copy the product key for Office you have received on your registered email address and then paste it directly on the activation window to prevent mistype issues. Enter the key carefully as many people get confused between i/e, 1/l, b/d, m/n, etc.

Scan for malware

Malware can also get you into Office issues. If you are suspecting any kind of symptoms of malware infection like a change on your search engine or browser homepage, the device is running sluggishly or your input devices like keyboard or mouse are responding lately then you should run a full system scan on your device. Make sure you are using a reliable antivirus for scanning your PC which can remove all types of malicious threats from your devices. After scanning the PC; restart your device and check whether your Office error gets fixed or not.

Extract the compressed installation files

Microsoft teams error code 500 can appear when the Office is unable to get the cabinet (.cab) files for installing the setup. The .cab file is used by the installation functions for compressing various files into a single file. If the .cab files get corrupted or damaged then you have to extract the files manually. After extracting the files, check whether your error gets fixed or not. If not then you should ask for technical help.
